Google Wave //

I’ve been testing Google Wave for the last 2 days. Pretty impressive.
Has a lot of potential and so far looks promising. It is still in a developer preview phase, available for only 6000 users I think, but Google will launch the beta in late September this year for another 100,000 users.

Ways to use Snipie //

There are many different ways you can shorten URL’s using Snipie. Below is a video demonstating 2 of them – “The Traditional Way” and the “snipie.com/” way.

The Snipie iPhone Web App //

The Snipie for iPhone Web App was released this week and posted on Apple’s website. The app itself is very simple and easy to use and includes hints and tips on how to easly shorten URL’s on your iPhone.

The easiest way so far is just to type in snipie.com/ in front of any url right in the Safari address bar and tap Go. Snipie will automaticly shorten that URL and all you need to remember (until the copy/paste feature is out with the iPhone OS3.0 release) is the last 2 or 3 charecters of the short URL!

If you have an iPhone – then this is the easiest way to shorten URL’s and share them.

You can also use the traditional way of entering the long URL in a box and tapping Shorten by going to snipie.com on your iPhone.

Snipie is on its way //

I’ve been working on a new project recently – a URL shortening service.

It goes by the name Snipie (snipie.com). The url itself is not as short as some other shorteners such as tr.im or is.gd but being a .com and having a name that people will remember is better in my opinion. At the end of the day the goal is to shorten long, very long urls and make them short enough to include in a tweet or Facebook status.

I will certainly write more about Snipie later as it it is still work in progress. One thing though – the logo for the project is being designed by famous graphic artist Sona Babajanyan.

BTW – Hyatt hotel was the first to use Snipie today in a tweet!

No Place for Secrets? //

itsDark is doing good on Facebook and I had a really good idea today to make it bigger.

By bigger I mean to expand the user-base add some new features (like webcam pics or video streaming) and expand from the bounds of the Facebook Platform.

itsDark is an anonymous messaging app in Facebook. It is not the only one in its kind but it sure differs a lot in many aspects. I got a lot of feedback from the users thanking me for not encouraging role-plays or amateur teen stories on the app. Without those the app became a place where people would just post thoughts, secrets, ask for advice and even write poetry. Just imagine how many people write poetry or stories every day but keep it secret. How many of them have  talent? How many of them wrote really good stuff, but nobody would ever know? What if itsDark can be a place where even one of those talents can be discovered?

Today the Internet is about people, about sharing and staying connected. All this means that everything you do is public. People know what you’re doing, what you’re watching and so on. But people also have secrets and if Internet is really about people –  it should also have a place for secrets.
